Important Dates

 
December 31, previous year Tax day for the current year.  Whatever sits on your property on December 31, of the previous year is assessable for the current year.
   Deadline for an owner that has claimed a conditional PRE exemption.
   
February 1, current year Deadline for a "qualified business" to submit State Tax Commission (STC) form, 2699  for qualified personal property.
   
February 20, current year Deadline for taxpayer filing of personal property. 
   
March 1st, current year STC shall publish the inflation rate multiplier before this date.
   
March 4th, current year Current year Assessment Roll shall be completed and certified by the Assessor (on or before the first Monday in March).
   
March 5th , current year The Assessor shall submit the current year certified assessment roll to the Board of Review. (Tuesday after the first Monday in March).
   
March 11, current year The Board of Review must meet on the 2nd Monday in March.  This meeting must start not earlier than 9 a.m. and not later than 3 p.m.  The Board of Review must meet one additional day during this week.
   
April 1st, current year On or before the first Monday in April, the March Board of Review must complete their review of protest. 
   
April 3rd, current year The Assessor shall deliver the completed Assessment Roll, with Board of Review certification, to the County Equalization Director, not later than the 10th day after the adjournment of the the Board of Review.
   
May 1, current year Deadline for filing the Farmland Exemption Affidavit with the local Assessor.
  Deadline for filing a Principal Residence Exemption Active Duty Military Affidavit.
   
May 31, current year Last day for appeals (Commercial/Industrial) to be made on line with the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
   
June 1, current year Deadline for filing a Principal Residence Exemption Affidavit to qualify for a PRE for the summer tax levy.
   
  Deadline for the filing of the initial request (1st year) of a conditional rescission of PRE.
   
June 3, current year Deadline for notifying protesting taxpayer in writing of Board of Review action.
   
July 1st, current year Deadline for classification appeals to the STC.
   
July 16, current year July Board of Review may be convened to correct qualified errors. (Tuesday after the third Monday in July).
   
July 31st, current year Last day for appeals (Residential/Agricultural) to be made on line with the Michigan Tax Tribunal. 
   
November 1, current year Deadline for filing a Principal Residence Exemption Affidavits for the PRE 18-mills school operating for the winter tax levy.  (There are no winter tax levies for properties in the Romeo School District, all 18 mills of school operating in the Romeo District are collected in the summer).
   
  Deadline for the filing of the initial request (1st year) of a conditional rescission of PRE.
   
December 10, current year December Board of Review may be convened to correct qualified errors. (Tuesday after the second Monday in December).
   
December 31, current year Tax Day for the next year's assessments.  Whatever sits on your property December 31, current year is assessable for the next year.
