Please login to Nixle.com to create or edit your account and change how you receive messages and from whom. You can even turn on and off the times of day you receive messages. The interface has a great deal of settings to truly customize what you receive.

You can choose to receive Alert and Advisory messages as a text and only receive Community Messages as an email.

You may choose to subscribe to other agencies, such as Michigan State Police, and decide to receive different types from each.

FAQ

What messages would I receive through Nixle?
Only authenticated agencies and community organizations can securely publish information. There are three types of messages; Alerts (many would refer to this as an emergency type alert), Advisories (less urgent need-to-know information), and Community Information (day-to-day neighborhood to community-level information).

IMPORTANT You will only receive notifications for agencies that you subscribe to. If you subscribe only to Washington Township you will only receive messages from Washington Township. To also receive messages from Romeo Washington Bruce Parks & Rec, Michigan State Police or other agencies, you will need to subscribe to them separately using the registration "Sign Up" box on that agency's website or by logging into your account on Nixle.com.

Do I have to register to use Nixle?
Anyone can view information by going to www.nixle.com without subscribing. However, to customize the information you receive and the locations you receive it from, in addition to receiving information by text message and/or email you must set up an account. Once subscribed you can personalize your locations and your preferences, making the service fit your needs.

Did I already register my email address with Nixle?
Existing Nixle subscribers can send an SMS message containing the word "email" to 888-777 to verify if an email is registered. After receiving the response, they can reply with their email address to include it in their subscription.

Can I limit the number of SMS (text) messages I receive?
You can limit the number of SMS (text) messages by adjusting the type of messages you receive. You can opt out of any service except public safety Urgent and Important messages. For example, you can choose to receive Urgent and Important messages on your mobile device and e-mail and community news in just your e-mail.

What do you do with my contact information?  Will third parties contact me? 
Information shared by subscribers with Nixle is stored on a secure server in a secure facility. Nixle does not sell, trade, or rent subscriber or user data to others.  Nixle will not provide your contact information to Washington Township. The privacy of your personal information is extremely important to us.

How do I unsubscribe?
Log in at www.nixle.com and click “Settings.” There you can adjust which messages you receive and on which device(s) you receive them. You also have the option to eliminate all SMS messages under the “Account” tab. Should you wish to completely unsubscribe, simply send an e-mail to support@nixle.com stating your desire to do so. You will be encouraged to review your settings prior to discontinuing service. Even after unsubscribing, you can still view Nixle information in real-time by visiting www.nixle.com.
