Cindy Olsen, Trustee

I ran for office because I love where I live!  Washington Twp is the jewel of Macomb County and I want to keep it that way.  I believe it is our duty as citizens to fight for, protect and preserve all the many wonderful things that make Washington Twp. such a great place to call home.

What I hope to accomplish is to get many miles of sidewalks laid, with an emphasis on the safety of our students getting to school.  I want to get water and sewer lines to more areas of town.  See what can be done about improving cable and internet services.  Help our fire department be properly staffed, trained and outfitted so that they can provide excellent services to our residents.  Continue the Police School Liaison program to help foster a foundation of trust between our young people and the police.  And we need to keep a very close eye on growth.  We need to know that our growth isn’t exceeding our ability to provide necessary services or negatively affect our quality of life.  And I want to hear what’s important to you?

My previous work experience includes working in both banks and a credit union.  I began at both places as a teller and was promoted to work in the area of customer service.  More recently I was employed as a paraprofessional for the MISD.  When I wanted to stay closer to home, I got a job as a substitute teachers aide with Romeo Community Schools.

Since moving to Washington in 2008, I have donated my time working at the Octagon House as an advanced master gardener.  I was a member of the original Beautification  Committee.  I spent a year volunteering with the Head Start program as a preschool aide at Croswell Elementary.  I’ve worked as an Election Inspector.  I’m active with the Macomb County Republican Party and I’m a notary.
