GYPSY MOTHS UPDATE

SPRAY DAY:  At this time, it has been determined that spraying will occur after sunrise on Monday, May 23, 2022.  The timing of the treatment depends upon weather conditions and could be subject to change.  Backup date will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022. 

On May 12 or May 13, 2022 you were sent an email regarding the aerial application of Bt by a low flying airplane in selected areas of Macomb County for Gypsy Moth suppression. This second email is being sent to provide the spray date.

EMERGENCY SERVICE AGENCIES NOTIFIED:  This email displays the addresses for those agencies that are being notified of the spray day.  If you know of another agency that should be notified, please forward this email to them.  Schools are being notified by a separate email.  Please do not forward this email to homeowners.  Homeowners in spray blocks have been previously notified by mail.

PRODUCT INFORMATION: The biological insecticide being used is Bacillus thuringiensis, subsp. kurstaki – Foray 48B, commonly known as Bt. It is a naturally occurring soil bacteria.
