ITC Vegetation Management of the Macomb Orchard Trail

Macomb-Orchard-Trail

ITC Vegetation Management Adams Spokane Line Macomb Orchard Trail Washington Township

ITC has been working with Macomb County regarding vegetation management along the MOT in both Washington and Shelby Townships.

ITC is planning to start this project in March 2023, starting around 29 mile and working our way South.

ITC’s work will be taking place within the easement ITC acquired from Macomb County a number of years ago.

In most areas ITC will be maintaining a buffer from the trail to the area vegetation is being removed, in other areas due to the location of the trail and ITC’s lines a reduced or no buffer will be left.

ITC will have signs on the trail notifying trail users of work ahead and it is expected only intermittent closures will be required during our project to protect trail users and veg. crews.

  • Starting at 29 Mile road going north to structure 1200 we will be removing all vegetation out to the trail.
  • South of 29 Mile road to Van Dyke road we will be leaving approximately a 15 foot buffer along the trail, and removing the tree species within the buffer.
  • Starting at structure 241 ( Campground Rd ) going south all the way to West road we will be leaving approximately a 20 foot buffer and removing tree species within the buffer. We will be leaving ornamental plantings along the trail in this location.
  • From West road south to structure 249 we will be leaving approximately a 20 foot buffer along the trail and removing the tree species within the buffer. Between structures 249-250 we will be removing all vegetation out to the trail. From structure 250 south to 26 Mile road we will be leaving an approximate 10 foot buffer along the trail, and removing the tree species within the buffer.

ITC crews will be using smaller mowers, chainsaws and chippers throughout this area.
